The brief

Caroline hosts dinners for twelve most Sundays and had been borrowing folding tables for years. The house had good bones, tired floors and a collection of old pots with nowhere to live.

What we did

We had the original terracotta floors cleaned and resealed rather than replaced, found a painted trestle table long enough for twelve and paired it with rush chairs from a maker in Mexico City. The dining wall got a deep plaster niche for the pots.

What changed

The whole house was installed in a single day. Sunday dinners moved indoors in winter for the first time.

“Install day took nine hours. We came home and the beds were made.”
